Hollywood Boulevard has received an infusion of upscale panache with the recent opening of Thirty1 Lounge, a Caribbean-American resto-lounge, at 1931 Hollywood Boulevard. This new establishment features delicious food, chic decor and exciting local art, and will be open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
Owner Joanne Taitt is drawing from her Trinidadian heritage, her upbringing in New York, and her experience in running large Caribbean-themed events all over the islands, to bring a unique variety of Latin flavorings to the fare, and she believes that Downtown Hollywood is the perfect place to do it.
“I just love the small-town feeling here in Hollywood,” she said. “I’ve been coming here since I moved to Florida, and I always felt like if I would ever start a business, that Downtown Hollywood would fit me best.”
Taitt has redesigned the existing space into a clean, sleek and intimate spot, with lounge furniture, and a small VIP area. Two large gallery walls display and sell the work of local artists.
Thirty1 Lounge offers a full bar, and a variety of appetizers. Entrees include Island-seasoned pan-seared Snapper topped with sautéed tomatoes, onions, and sweet peppers ($30); Caribbean Citrus Chicken marinated in citrus flavor and roasted to perfection ($18 ¼, $22 ½); and seasoned Skirt Steak cooked perfectly to your desire, and topped with mango chimichurri.
