Tyler Street Women Led Business Cooperative Formed in Downtown Hollywood

Tyler Street Women Led Business Cooperative

With a collective eye toward building foot traffic on their end of the street, a group of five women who own art, creative, or health and wellness-themed businesses on Tyler Street near 21st Avenue have banded together to create the Tyler Street Women Led Business Cooperative.

The new group launched on November 28th with their first event, Small Business Saturday.  The event was deemed a success, said their spokesperson, mixed media abstract artist Jennifer Haley, whose Jennifer Haley Studio and shop is located at 2128 Tyler Street.

“We’re a group of female-run small businesses focused on Health, Wellness and the Arts, and we share a vision of creating a fresh and fun vibe on Tyler Street in Downtown Hollywood,” said Haley.  “We are working as a team to support each other's growth and continue to give back to our community.”

Forming the cooperative was initially the idea of Lisa Zomaro, owner of the Kitschy Cat Shack, at 2108 Tyler Street, “a one-stop shop for all things cat,” specializing in healthy cat food, treats, supplements, interactive toys and supplies.  The shop also features a fun boutique for cat lovers, she added.

Zomaro, a Hollywood native, said she has had a vision for the area since she moved into the space four years ago.

“The idea was always brewing in me to give this little area a new vibe,” she said, "and before I knew it, when these new businesses popped up, and we realized that we were all women business owners, and all in the same mindset, we decided to get together to help each other thrive and promote each other, and turn this into the new little artsy spot in Downtown.”

Interestingly, or maybe karmically, both Haley and Zomaro opened shop in the first spaces they saw.  Like most of the women, both are Hollywood residents who said they wouldn’t think of basing their businesses anywhere else.

With 16 years of experience performing professional body piercings, Tiffany Cox, AJP, (Applied Jewelry Professional), opened her shop, Opal Moon Body Adornments, at 2033 Tyler Street, in October.

The shop offers professional piercings by appointment, and a great selection of both everyday and one-of-a-kind statement body jewelry, with the majority made by other small artisans and designers, Cox noted.  She plans to expand her shop into an art gallery showcasing local and other talent.

Also included in the new collective are:

Herban Tapestry, at 2120 Tyler Street.  This community-focused herb shop provides organic and wild harvested herbs, spices, and tea blends to the South Florida area.   Owner Lisa Stag says she has just about every herb in the world, and will help you identify which ones will address your specific needs.

My Aroma Life, at 2140 Tyler Street.  Maia Navarrete opened My Aroma Life in July after taking one of the top prizes in the 2019 Kaufmann Fasttrac program run by the City of Hollywood Economic Development team.  A chemical engineer by training, she spent over 20 years working with personal care, health care, and home care ingredients, and her shop offers a wide variety of products -- including essential oils, supplements, cleaning products, and jewelry -- all designed to be healthy for you and healthy for the planet, she says.

“A lot of unique businesses thrive in Downtown Hollywood, so I figured we would fit right in,” laughed Tiffany Cox of Opal Moon.  “I particularly liked Tyler Street because it seems to be the epicenter of unique businesses that offer something a little bit different.”

The group is planning more events in the future.   Watch their Facebook page,, for schedules and specials.
